Grok 4.5 hits free X accounts — grab it before it's gated

SpaceXAI just made Grok 4.5 — its biggest model release yet — free to any X account through Grok Build, no SuperGrok or Premium+ subscription required. That's a notable move: on X's apps proper, 4.5 still lands for Premium+ and SuperGrok users first, so Grok Build is the loophole for free-tier users to touch the new model.

The catch is the clock. This is a limited-time window with no published end date — xAI's past free launches have run days to a few weeks before access gets pulled behind a paywall.

Grok 4.5 is also aggressively cheap at roughly $2 per million input tokens, trained with Cursor for coding and agentic work, and already live in Cursor across all plans and the SpaceXAI console. One gap: EU access isn't live yet, with availability expected mid-July.

Why it matters: free access to a frontier-class model — even briefly — is the cheapest way to see if Grok 4.5 lives up to the price tag before the gate drops.
