Google Merges NotebookLM Into Gemini — Research Meets Chat

NotebookLM notebooks now live inside Gemini's UI, and Gemini chats can feed back as NotebookLM sources.

Google Merges NotebookLM Into Gemini — Research Meets Chat

Google just collapsed the wall between NotebookLM and Gemini. Notebooks are now a first-class feature in the Gemini interface — you can query them mid-chat, and Gemini conversations can themselves become sources inside NotebookLM. It's a two-way pipe.

Rollout starts today for Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscribers on web. Mobile, European markets, and free-tier users follow in the coming weeks. Under the hood, NotebookLM now runs on Gemini 3, which brings sharper reasoning and multimodal understanding — and supports up to 300 sources per notebook.

The practical upshot: your curated research base and your live AI assistant are now the same tool. Ask Gemini a question grounded in your own documents, or let a chat thread become source material for deeper analysis.

Why it matters: This blurs the line between personal knowledge management and AI chat — and sets a new bar for what 'grounded' AI responses can look like.
