OpenClaw Agents Now 'Dream' — and Wake Up Smarter
OpenClaw's new dreaming mode runs nightly, consolidating conversation history into long-term agent memory — just like REM sleep.

OpenClaw just shipped a /dreaming feature that lets AI agents process past conversations overnight — literally mimicking the human sleep cycle.
The system runs in three phases: a cleanup pass (deduplicating noise), a reflection pass (spotting recurring topics and patterns), and a memory promotion pass (pushing strong signals into long-term storage). By default it fires at 3 AM, though you can customize the schedule. It also writes a plain-English summary of what it noticed — so you can actually see what your agent "thought about" while you slept.
The feature is opt-in and disabled by default, which is smart — unbounded memory consolidation on noisy chats could easily backfire. But for power users running persistent agents on projects or research threads, this could meaningfully improve context retention across long sessions.
Why it matters: persistent agent memory is one of the hardest unsolved UX problems — dreaming is an elegant, biologically-inspired answer.
