Notion's Building a Standalone AI App to Run Your Workday
Notion is spinning up a dedicated AI chat app that taps your docs, agents, and databases — with calendar and email baked in.

Notion is working on a standalone, chat-first AI app built on top of your existing Notion workspace. Unlike the current sidebar AI, this is a dedicated interface — think a conversational command center where you talk to Notion AI and your custom agents directly, with full context from your docs, databases, and connected tools.
This follows the February 2026 launch of Custom Agents — team-wide AI teammates that run on schedules or triggers. Early users built over 21,000 agents in the first weeks. The new standalone app extends that surface: draft a doc, triage tasks, query a database, send emails, check your calendar — all through chat.
Notion's bet is clear: the workspace becomes the operator layer. If your entire knowledge graph lives in Notion, the AI sitting on top of it is already context-rich by default. No prompt engineering, no integrations to wire — just ask.
Why it matters: Notion is quietly repositioning from productivity tool to AI operating system for teams — and a dedicated chat app is the front door.
