Samsung's AI glasses are official — the price and date aren't

Two Gemini-powered frames from Gentle Monster and Warby Parker: no display, 9-hour battery, and still no price or ship date.

Samsung's AI glasses are official — the price and date aren't

Samsung finally put hardware behind the teasers. At Galaxy Unpacked in London it showed two Intelligent Eyewear models, built with Google and styled by Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

The spec sheet is deliberately modest. There's no display — these are camera-and-audio glasses running Android XR on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, rated for about 9 hours of use with a case good for seven more charges. Gemini does the heavy lifting: live translation, conversation summaries, navigation, point-of-view sharing on video calls, and piping whatever you look at — a whiteboard, a receipt — straight into Samsung Notes. An LED plus wear-detection handles the "is that thing recording me" problem.

What Samsung didn't say: price or date. The newsroom line is "fall," in select markets. Leaks peg $379–$499, which would wedge the glasses between Meta's $299 display-free frames and the $799 Ray-Ban Display. The version with an actual micro-LED screen is reportedly a 2027 product. So this is a placeholder launch — Samsung planting a flag on a face-worn Gemini before Meta's lead compounds, with the interesting hardware still a year out.

Why it matters: Android XR just got its first mainstream body, and the AI glasses race is now a two-ecosystem fight rather than Meta running unopposed.
