What it does
Pexo calls itself an AI video agent, and its homepage tagline is "Your Personal AI Video Partner." Instead of writing prompts for one video model at a time, users describe the video they want in plain language. Pexo then plans the script, scenes and shots, generates the footage, and assembles a finished video with voiceover, music, motion graphics, subtitles and transitions. According to the official site, it accepts several kinds of starting material: an idea, a URL, an image, audio, a PDF, an existing video or a script. Changes are requested through chat, so Pexo can revise the video without starting from scratch.
Its main selling point is model routing. The site says Pexo picks a model for each step and names Seedance 2.0, Kling AI 3.0, Happy Horse 1.0, GPT-Image 2 and Nano Banana, with logos for Veo, Runway, Luma, Pika, Hailuo and Midjourney. Pexo also offers AI avatars with lip sync, image generation and music generation. A separate set of open-source agent skills on GitHub lets coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex create videos through Pexo with a single API key.
Who it is for
The clearest audience is people who need a finished video but have no editor or editing skills. Pexo launched on Product Hunt on September 30, 2026, where it was pitched for launch videos and ranked first that day. Its site lists explainers, product ads, social clips, music videos, anime and short stories. Startup founders, product marketers and social media managers are the obvious fit. Developers who already use an AI coding agent can add video generation to that workflow through the skill.
It suits professional editors less well. A third-party review on InsideVerdict notes that Pexo has no timeline editor and does not let users choose which model renders a shot.
How people use it
Take a common job: a founder needs a 60-second launch video for a new app. Based on Pexo's user guide and its Product Hunt description, the steps look like this. First, the founder starts a conversation and pastes the product's website URL along with a sentence about the audience and tone. Second, Pexo proposes a plan with a script, scene list and creative direction. On Product Hunt, the maker said that users who want more control can ask to review the script and storyboard before production starts. Third, Pexo generates the scenes, routing each to a model it chooses, and adds voiceover, music and captions. Fourth, the founder reviews the draft and asks for changes, either in chat or by commenting on specific frames. For example, they might ask for a shorter intro or for the logo to appear earlier. Finally, they export the video. Pexo's Product Hunt page lists a shipped request for 9:16 vertical and 1:1 square export presets. The maker also said users can upload a photo for a talking avatar and about 30 seconds of speech to clone their voice.
According to the GitHub README, a 15-second three-shot ad typically renders in under 8 minutes, and a 60-second video with voiceover and music takes around 20 minutes.
Pricing
Prices were checked on 2026-10-08. Pexo's pricing page did not show its plans when loaded and displayed only a "Loading pricing…" message. What Pexo states directly, in its Credit Rules guide, is that there are three subscription tiers, called Pro, Elite and Max. The guide says Max "starts at $100/month" but gives no figures for Pro or Elite there. It also says subscription credits "expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over" and that "all payments are final and non-refundable except where required by law." The free part is a starting allowance: the site has a "Start for Free" button, and the guide says bonus credits come through promotions, campaigns and trials.
A third-party review on InsideVerdict, with figures it says were verified in mid-2026, lists Pro at $30 a month for 4,800 credits, Elite at $60 for 10,000 credits and Max at $100 for 18,000 credits. Pexo has not confirmed these numbers, so buyers should check them at checkout. Credit cost depends on the model and video length, and the same credits apply when Pexo is used through the agent skill.
Strengths
The main strength is that Pexo turns a single request into a whole video, not loose clips. Users do not need to learn prompt writing for each model or manage several subscriptions, because Pexo handles model choice. Accepting URLs, PDFs and scripts as input is useful for marketing teams, which usually already have a website or brief. Chat-based revision is the feature both reviewers and the Product Hunt discussion focus on. The agent skill is open source under the MIT license, which is unusual in this category and helpful for developers building automated content pipelines. A positive Trustpilot reviewer called it "very easy to use."
Limits and things to watch
The independent feedback is mixed to negative. As of 2026-10-08, Pexo's Trustpilot page had a 2.5 out of 5 score from 14 reviews, and 72 percent of them were one-star. Credits are the recurring complaint. One reviewer wrote that "credits are lost on Pexo's mistakes from simple prompts and corrections," and another said, "You have no control over how your credits are used." Others reported prompts being ignored, slow or missing support replies, and one charge of $43 for a plan they say was shown at $30. Because Pexo's own terms say payments are non-refundable and monthly credits expire, wasted generations are a real cost. The sample is small, Trustpilot does not fact-check reviews, and Pexo has replied to several of them.
The InsideVerdict review adds that the true cost of a finished video is hard to estimate, that there is no timeline editor, and that generation can be slower than single-model tools. Pexo depends on third-party models, so output quality and content rules can change when those models change. The agent skill limits videos to 5 to 120 seconds and requires an invite code to activate an account, though the web app's guide says there is no fixed length cap.
When to choose something else
InVideo AI offers a similar prompt-to-video agent. Its pricing page lists Basic at $9 per seat per month, Pro at $30 and Ultra at $80, with half-price annual billing and published credit allowances. It also has team seats and stock footage, which makes it the closer like-for-like choice for teams that want clear seat-based pricing. Runway suits people who want hands-on control. It has a free tier of 125 one-time credits and paid plans from $15 a month, and its creative tools are built for people who assemble the edit themselves. HeyGen is the better choice when the job is mainly talking-presenter or avatar video. Its free plan allows three videos a month up to one minute long, Creator costs $29 a month, and its pricing page says credits roll over for a month on monthly plans.
Verdict
Pexo makes a strong case for delegating a whole short video to an agent, and its Product Hunt launch shows real interest. For a founder or marketer who needs a launch clip or social ad and has no editor, it is worth a test on the free bonus credits. The risks are around money. Buyers should check prices at checkout, review the script and storyboard before generation, and avoid large plans until they know how many credits a typical video uses. Anyone who needs predictable costs, refunds or precise editing control should choose one of the alternatives for now.
Alternatives compared
| Tool | Pricing | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| InVideo AI | Basic $9/seat/month ($4 annual), Pro $30/seat/month ($15 annual), Ultra $80/seat/month ($40 annual); no free plan listed | Choose InVideo for a similar prompt-to-finished-video agent with team seats, stock footage and published per-seat credit allowances, especially if an annual plan is acceptable. |
| Runway | Free (125 one-time credits); Standard $15/month ($12 annual); Pro $35/month ($28 annual); Max $95/month ($76 annual) | Choose Runway when you want hands-on control over generation and editing and are happy to assemble the final cut yourself rather than delegate it to an agent. |
| HeyGen | Free (3 videos/month up to 1 minute); Creator $29/month ($24 annual); Pro from $49/month; Business $149/month plus $20 per extra seat | Choose HeyGen when the job is mainly talking-avatar, presenter or translated videos and you want a real free plan and credit rollover. |
Verdict
Pexo suits founders and marketers who want a short launch, explainer or social video made through conversation and who can tolerate some trial and error. Buyers who need predictable costs, refunds or precise editing control should wait until pricing is clearly published and user reports on credit use improve. Anyone trying it should start on bonus credits or the lowest tier before committing to a larger plan.
